1. What this notice covers
Personal information is information that identifies you, or can identify you when combined with other information we hold.
This notice covers the shop, dealer sign-up, accounts, checkout, support (email, phone, WhatsApp), newsletters, and cookies on Our Website.
It should be read with our Terms and Conditions, Return Policy and cookie / consent tool (Complianz).
2. Information we collect
We may process:
- Identity: name, title
- Contact: billing and delivery address, email, phone, WhatsApp number
- Account: username, password (stored hashed), order history, wishlists, reviews
- Transaction: products bought, amounts, payment status, invoices, refunds, returns
- Payment: handled by the payment provider (currently Payfast or another gateway we name at checkout). We do not store full card numbers
- Technical: IP address, browser, device, approximate location derived from IP, pages viewed
- Marketing: opt-in status, campaign engagement
- Support: messages you send us, including photos of a product or installation if you attach them
- Dealer information: company name, VAT number, and contact persons if you apply as a dealer
We do not intend to collect special personal information (health, religion, race, biometrics, criminal record, and similar). Do not send that to us unless we ask in writing for a lawful reason. If an installer or courier collects an ID copy for delivery or access control, we will treat that as identity information and keep it only as long as needed for that purpose.
We do not use this website to collect job applications.
3. Why we process it (POPIA grounds)
| Purpose | Ground |
|---|---|
| Take and fulfil orders, delivery, returns, invoices, guarantees | Contract (POPIA s11(1)(b)) |
| Create and run your account | Contract |
| Tax, accounting, CIPC and other legal records | Legal obligation (s11(1)(c)) |
| Detect fraud, secure the site, keep required business records | Legitimate interest / legal obligation |
| Customer service and complaint handling | Contract / legitimate interest |
| Newsletters and promotional email or WhatsApp | Consent — only if you opted in |
| Analytics, advertising and remarketing cookies (Google, Meta) | Consent via the cookie banner |
| Product recommendations on the site after you browse | Legitimate interest, or consent where a cookie is required |
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Marketing
We send promotional messages only if you opted in at sign-up, checkout or a form.
You can stop marketing at any time:
- unsubscribe link in the email, or
- email [email protected] or [email protected]
Opting out of marketing does not close your shop account or cancel an order. We will still email you about that order, delivery, returns or legal notices.
5. Cookies and similar tech
We use the Complianz consent tool. On the first visit we ask which cookies you allow.
- Necessary cookies run the cart, login and security. These do not need marketing consent.
- Analytics (including Google Analytics / Google tags) run only if you allow them.
- Marketing (including Meta / Facebook Pixel and remarketing) run only if you allow them.
You can change your choice later through the cookie tool or your browser. Blocking optional cookies will not stop you buying; some site features may work less well.
More detail sits in the cookie statement opened from the banner.
6. Who we share information with
We give personal information only to operators who need it to provide a service to us, and only as much as they need:
- payment gateway (Payfast or the provider shown at checkout)
- courier / logistics
- website host and maintenance provider
- email / SMS / WhatsApp tools
- CRM or accounting tools
- Google and Meta, if you consented to those cookies
- professional advisers (accountant, attorney) where needed
- SARS, CIPC, police, courts or the Information Regulator if the law requires it
Those operators may only use the information on our instructions, except where they are themselves a responsible party (for example a payment provider processing a card payment).
7. Information leaving South Africa
The shop is hosted in South Africa.
Some operators are outside South Africa (for example Google and Meta in the United States). We only send personal information out of South Africa if POPIA section 72 allows it — usually because you consented (cookie banner / marketing opt-in), or because we have a written agreement with that operator that protects the information.
8. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it, including:
- orders, invoices and tax records: generally up to 7 years after the last transaction (SARS and related record rules)
- account data: while the account is open, then as long as needed for the records above
- marketing lists: until you unsubscribe, then we keep a suppression record so we do not email you again
- cookie identifiers: as set in the cookie statement
- support tickets: for a reasonable period to finish the query and defend claims
After that we delete or de-identify the information where we can.
9. Security
We use HTTPS/SSL on the website, access controls, and operators who are required to keep data secure. No website is perfectly secure. Tell us at once at [email protected] if you think your account or an order email was compromised.
10. Your rights
Subject to POPIA, you may:
- ask whether we hold personal information about you
- get a copy or a description of it
- ask us to correct or delete information that is wrong, excessive or outdated
- object to processing that is based on legitimate interest
- withdraw consent where we relied on consent (marketing and optional cookies)
- complain to us and to the Information Regulator
To use these rights, email [email protected] from the address we have on file, or write to the registered office. We will take reasonable steps to verify it is you.
We do not charge a fee for an ordinary POPIA request. A prescribed fee may apply only where PAIA allows it; we will tell you first.
We may refuse a request only on the grounds POPIA or PAIA allow (for example information that must be kept for tax, or that identifies someone else).
Deleting some information may mean we cannot keep an account open. It does not cancel a live order or a tax invoice we must retain.
11. Children
This shop is not aimed at children. If you are under 18 you may use the site only with a parent or guardian’s consent. We do not knowingly market to children.
12. Reviews and public posts
If you post a review, that content is public. Do not put an address, phone number or other private detail in a review. You may ask us to take a review down; we will consider that against POPIA, the CPA and ordinary shopkeeping.
We may display and quote reviews to operate and promote the store. We do not use review text “in any way we decide.”
13. Complaints
First contact the Information Officer: [email protected].
You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa):
- [email protected]
- [email protected]
- 010 023 5200 / 0800 017 160
You do not have to mediate or arbitrate before you approach the Regulator.
14. Changes
We may update this notice. The version on the website when you use the site or place an order applies. If we change something material (new operator offshore, new marketing channel), we will update this page and, where POPIA requires it, ask for consent again.
