Overview
SONOFF SNZB-03PR2 Zigbee motion sensor is the SenseGuard Motion Gen2, a low-power indoor PIR with a separate light sensor. It watches a room, passage, or entrance and reports motion and lux to your Zigbee hub, so lights can come on only after dark and switch off when the space is empty.
Detection is passive infrared, about 6 metres, with a field of view of about 110° in the user manual and about 120° on SONOFF’s product page. That suits a hallway, corridor, staircase, or doorway better than a large open plan room. Cooldown is adjustable from 5 to 60 seconds, so a busy passage does not flood the network with repeats, and a quiet room can still retrigger quickly. Linked actions can fire in a few seconds once motion is seen.
The light sensor is independent of the PIR. It reports illuminance in lux, not only a day or night flag, and can be calibrated. In eWeLink you can log up to 6 months of light history and use lux on its own, or combined with motion, so a passage light stays off in daylight and only runs when someone walks through after dark. In Home Assistant, Zigbee2MQTT exposes occupancy, illuminance, and battery, plus the occupied-to-unoccupied delay and an illumination offset.
Power is one CR2477 coin cell, rated for up to 3 years. There is no mains lead and no Wi-Fi radio. A Zigbee hub or coordinator is required. Recommended SONOFF gateways are ZBBridge-P, ZBBridge-U, NSPanel Pro, and iHost. SONOFF dongles (ZBDongle-P, ZBDongle-E, Dongle-M, and others) also work. Third-party options listed by SONOFF include certain Echo models with a built-in Zigbee hub and the Aeotec Smart Home Hub for SmartThings. In Home Assistant it pairs through Zigbee2MQTT or ZHA with a compatible coordinator such as a Sonoff Dongle Max or an SMLight stick. Voice routines through Alexa or Google Home only work via a supported hub.
Mounting is adhesive, magnetic, or freestanding on the included base, so you can aim the head at a doorway without drilling. Recommended mounting height is up to about 2 m. The housing is white PC, 44 × 44 × 65 mm, and about 42.7 g with the battery. Open-air Zigbee range is up to 100 m. Through walls it is shorter, so keep it inside a solid mesh of your other Zigbee devices. Working range is indoor, −10 °C to 60 °C, and 5–95% relative humidity, non-condensing. Certifications are CE, FCC, and RoHS.
Pairing is from the eWeLink app or your coordinator. The pairing window is 180 seconds. If it drops out, a long press of about 5 seconds puts it back into pairing, shown by a slow flash. If the sensor is in range of the hub or a router on the same network, the LED flashes twice during a range check.
Typical uses are a passage or staircase light that only runs after dark, an occupancy flag for heating or air conditioning, a trigger for the SNZB-09P indoor siren when a door zone is armed, and a simple “someone is home” notification. It will not see through glass, and it is not rated for outdoor mounting.
Specifications: model SNZB-03PR2, SenseGuard series, Zigbee 3.0 (IEEE 802.15.4), MCU TLSR8656, PIR plus illuminance, detection about 6 m and about 110° to 120°, cooldown 5 to 60 seconds, CR2477 3 V, up to 3 years, open-air range up to 100 m, 44 × 44 × 65 mm, 42.7 g with battery, indoor only.
In the box: the SenseGuard Motion Gen2 sensor, mounting base, CR2477 battery, and user manual. A Zigbee hub is not included.
Use the SONOFF SNZB-03PR2 Zigbee motion sensor where you already have a Zigbee network and want motion plus a real lux reading, without a cable run. It is not a standalone Wi-Fi sensor and it is not a security-grade outdoor beam.
